SELF-CATERING MEANS YOU NEED TO "IMPORT" ANY INGREDIENTS AND ACCESSORIES YOU NEED FOR COOKING INCLUDING BASICS LIKE SUGAR AND SALT, FIRE LIGHTERS, WOOD AND/OR CHARCOAL FOR A GRILL, BEVERAGES AND BOOZE. LIFE HERE IS CHEAPER FOR YOU THIS WAY.
Sadly, 12 years of experience tell us quite bluntly that we never will be able to buy enough items of certain "little" things heavily in demand by guests. So we continue to provide betting and linen throughout our range of accommodation options, but a variety of things of your own you must bring along:
ANY KINDS OF TOWELS
ANY SORT OF ELECTRICAL PLUGS, 2-WAY PLUGS AND ADAPTORS YOU MIGHT NEED
EXTENSION CORDS
DURING SUMMER: WHATEVER YOU PREFER TO USE FOR PROTECTION AGAINST MOSQUITOS
DURING WINTER: EXTRA BLANKETS AS MANY AS YOU NEED
You know: Preventing petty theft also helps us keeping our rates low.
Knowing a bit about the ins and outs and do's and don'ts certainly helps (prospective) guests to find out what to expect and to enjoy their stay with us.
Our operation is fully based on self-catering. So don't expect breakfast buffet and/or meals provided. But you are entitled to use our fully equipped communal kitchen in the main house to prepare the food stuff you like. (See bar on the left)
Check in time is from 01:00 p.m. Our gate gets locked at 11:00 p.m. Any divergent requirements must be agreed when booking.
ANY OUTSTANDING BALANCE IS DUE UPON ARRIVAL. SO PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH CASH ON YOU TO BE ABLE TO FULLY SETTLE YOUR ACCOUNT.
Shopping and banking you can do at "Mall@Reds" or in Wierda Park (both within walking distance). Within a range of 7km there are lots of restaurants and pubs, some with live South African music performance.
Guests that do not have own transport can walk to the big mini-bus taxi rank in Wierda Park from where they can get to every place in the region at modest rates.
Don't smoke in the room you occupy. Smoking is allowed outside or in the main house if other guests don't object.
Accoding to Backpackers' gerneal rules you are supposed to clean up after your action whatever it is.
As a rule, after 10:00 p.m any noise should be reduced to a level consistent with what students or any other guests may consider bearable for studying or just falling asleep.
Do not leave any valuables in your car and, please, close doors and windows of your chalet at night.
WE DO NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY PERSON OR PROPERTY LOST OR DAMAGED ON SITE.
Check-out time is strictly 10 a.m. Hand over the key(s) to one of our staff members or leave them in the door(s). On request you must allow inspection of the room(s) you occupied for damages or loss.
